Distant Worlds in Minneapolis

With great excitement and much glee, my friend Maki and I attended the Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy concert at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis on April 11th. It had been kind of a shared dream of ours since one of our other friends got to see an orchestral concert of Final Fantasy music a few years back at Comic-Con.

We decided to go in costume, since I had made us two new costumes from Final Fantasy VI for Anime Detour the week before. It was a ton of fun and the music was fabulous. They played some of my favorites including Liberi Fatali, Love Grows, Dear Friends, Final Fantasy 1~3 Suite, and of course, Opera: Maria and Draco. They also played One Winged Angel, At Zanarkand and a few others. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to hear the Theme of Love from Final Fantasy IV, or Melodies of Life from Final Fantasy IX, but what can you do. The concert was still really awesome and we were especially lucky because Nobuo Uematsu himself was there in the audience.

Maki and I being the geeks that we are, we got the super special awesome tickets that included seating in the very front section and the special meet and greet with Uematsu after the show was over. I got my copy of Final Fantasy VI for Super Famicom signed and we both got a cute picture with Uematsu-san and the conductor, Arnie Roth. Uematsu-san won't be there for all of the tour dates, but I still strongly advise anyone with a love for Final Fantasy to check out http://www.ffdistantworlds.com/ to see if there's a performance near you. It's totally worth it. :)

What is this?

A place for thoughts (coherent or otherwise), interesting pictures and other oddities that I come across.

Oh, so like, what kind of stuff do you come across then? Cause that'll really effect how interesting this all is.

Lots of stuff. I'm a fashion major, so a lot of it will probably be about design, textiles and other fashion-i-things. I'm also a huge geek, though, so don't be surprised if I go off on a huge tangent about the latest super hero movies, anime, or video games every so often.

Okay, so next question - Why do I care?

I don't know. I just figured it'd be fun to post some of this stuff on the web and see if other people have anything to say about. If you don't like something I'm saying, it's a free country and you can just as well ignore me.
